LO5 D2- Evaluating the negative impact of my product

Now I will analyse my product and see how it may have a negative effect on the people using it. After stating the issues surrounding my product I will then give solutions to prevent the negative impacts that my idea has.

Firstly, one of my methods of feedback is allowing my audience to comment under social media posts so I can understand what my audience likes or dislikes about my idea. However, since the comment sections are open to all, some maybe tempted to troll others in the comment section as they find it amusing. This will make the victim of the abuse hurt mentally and will be pushed away from my social media accounts to avoid more harassment. To address this, I will ensure that all foul language is turned off on the social media platforms that allow the banning of certain words. Failing that, I will constantly be monitoring comment sections as I will have notifications on so as soon as I see a hurtful comment, it will be removed and they will be blocked.

This links to the moral panics theory which states that people can be massively influenced by what they see or experience through media. Therefore, if someone who maybe can’t take insults and bullying well is being harassed in these comment sections, then it may take them to a dark place.

Another negative impact of my product is that of misinformation. This applies to the large paragraph of text that describes and informs my audience on the place they are looking at. For example, if someone is looking at a sports venue like The Eco-power Stadium, they will have all the relevant and needed information before potentially visiting. This could come at a risk as I could give false information about that stadium which could put people off from visiting which would result in negative economical issues for Doncaster Rovers. To prevent misinformation about all places available to tour, I will 100% make sure that all my facts are correct by checking multiple sources or getting the details first hand from an owner or someone who works at the respective place.

In conclusion, I have spoken about the negative impacts that my product may pose on my audience and other surrounding factors with solutions so I can ensure that my product is safe for people to use and so they won’t be pushed away resulting in my product being unsuccessful.
